Oldhamers are to get a second public transport boost when Metrolink trams come to the town centre in 2014 — a new Victoria Station in Manchester to travel to.
Renovation of the station — Oldham’s gateway to the rest of the country — will go ahead despite the loss of £5m from the Government.
And now Network Rail has announced details and timings of the £25m improvement scheme to the station which last year was named worst in the country.
The project is being jointly funded by Network Rail ((£16m), Manchester City Council (£5m) and GMITA (£4m).
