FOOTBALL star . . . Rokib Miah shows his skills.
A COLDHURST footballer will soon see his face on TV after dazzling judges at a soccer skills contest.
Rokib Miah took part in “Wayne Rooney’s Street Striker” show in Manchester, where players showcased their silky skills in a bid to be selected for the next round.
The 19-year-old, a member of Latics community coaching staff, beat off stiff competition from over 1,000 footballers to make it to the next stage in Birmingham.
The programme, which airs on Sky 1, involves England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney testing the country’s best young footballers to a series of challenges. The winner gets a host of top prizes, including the chance to be Wayne’s guest of honour at various sporting events.
The Sky 1 crew filmed Rokib in action during a coaching session at Grange astroturf pitch in West End Street before he was whisked away for secret filming with Rooney himself.
Rokib said: “I’m really excited, it’s been really good fun and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it and hopefully I’m going to go all the way.”
