A STRUGGLING mum from Shaw has been given a community order after forging her partner’s signature to secure a £10,000 loan to pay off catalogue debts.
Lisa Ingham (42), of Duchess Street, pleaded guilty to the charge at Oldham Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Miss Ingham took out the 25-year loan, as well as £1,210 insurance, in January, 2003. She used her name and the name of her partner of 14 years, David Clegg, but had the cash advanced to herself.
The court heard how Miss Ingham forged her partner’s signature as well as that of two other people to secure the loan.
Gregg Kemp, defending, said: “You are not dealing with someone who has set out to make personal financial gain. It’s an extremely unusual case.”
Deputy District Judge John Clarke gave her a 12-month community order, with 150 hours of unpaid community work with £85 costs.
Mrs Ingham will appear before Oldham magistrates again on September 27 after pleading not guilty to a separate, unrelated theft charge.
