Iceland Frozen Foods is returning to Oldham town centre with a new store creating 28 jobs.
The company has taken over the former Woolworths store in High Street which closed in January last year.
Workmen are busy converting the two-storey building, which will open in the autumn.
Iceland used to have a town centre outlet, before it moved into part of the former Littlewoods store, Market Place, which closed in 2005 and is now Primark.
There is also an Iceland store in Market Street, Shaw.
An Iceland spokesman said: “We can confirm that we have purchased the former Woolworths site in High Street Oldham and have a provisional opening date of October 21, 2010.
“We are looking forward to opening in Oldham and will be creating approximately 28 jobs.”
