Loveable Alex the meerkat teamed up with friend Nicholas for a rambling trip to the iconic Rievaulx Abbey.

With the rucksack packed and walking poles in tow, the adventurous explorers set off on a journey of epic proportions as they rambled up the Cleveland Way in North Yorkshire.

Stopping off to admire the breathtaking monastery, the meerkats took in the atmospheric surroundings and learned about the medieval monks that used to live there.

Alex led the way as they admired the gothic arches of the abbey, established in 1132, and explored the national park before heading back to the car - ready for another whirlwind adventure.
