ANYONE for eggs? Stuart Holt does his early morning collection
BUDDING farmer Stuart Holt enjoys nothing more than an early morning chat with his grandparents’ chickens.
The three-year-old animal-lover rushes to collect any eggs laid overnight and give the chickens their favourite feast of rice, pasta, fruit and veg.
Grandparents Mark and Beverley Dalby, of Long Lane, Chadderton, got two chickens two years ago and quickly built up their brood.
Beverley said: “We have nine in total now and we see them as proper family pets.
“One of them was being picked on so we let her out of the hutch and she quickly bonded with our Yorkshire terrier and Staffordshire bull terrier.
“Our grandchildren Stuart and Elise love the chickens and really enjoy making food for them and collecting the eggs.
“We get fresh eggs every day and give them out to all our friends and family.
“Chickens are much more fun than rabbits or guinea pigs — and friendlier too.”
