Double celebrations for twins Leanne (left) and Bekki O’Brien.
IT was a double celebration for twins Leanne and Bekki O’Brien, who scooped an identical number of passes to give them the keys to the universities of their choice.
The Our Lady’s School pupils were looking forward to a big celebration after spending a nervous night waiting for their results.
The 18-year-olds helped the Royton school hit a 98 per cent overall pass rate, with A*-B grades gained by 45 per cent of pupils — up from last year’s 29 per cent, but below the 2008 level of 53 per cent.
And it was top marks for BTEC students who hit a 100 per cent pass rate.
Leanne and Bekki, who live with their parents Elaine and Paul in Sholver Hill Close, Moorside, both earned A grades in sociology.
Leanne got Cs in psychology and art, and Bekki got Cs in psychology and English Language.
Their exam success means Leanne can accept a place studying psychology with counselling at Salford University, and Bekki will take occupational therapy at Sheffield Hallam University.
Neither girl thought they would hit the grades, and said all the studying and revising had been worth it.
Their proud mother, Elaine, said: “I am absolutely over the moon for them.
“They deserve it for all the hard work they put in. It’s fantastic.”
