A DEDICATED A-level pupil from Royton, who juggled volunteering at a special needs school with her studies, was beaming with pride yesterday as she picked up her results.
North Chadderton pupil Vanessa Vickers (18) has spent the past two years working at Kingfisher Special Community School and learning sign language during her free periods.
But she still managed A grades in psychology and ICT and a B in biology.
She said: “It was really hard at times working at the school, doing my A levels and working a part-time job but it has all paid off. I am so chuffed.”
She joined dozens of other nervous teens at the school yesterday as they opened their long-awaited envelopes.
Stand-out pupil Charlotte Hill, who achieved the new A* grade and three As, plans to follow in her father’s footsteps after securing a place at Cambridge University to study French and Spanish. The head of North Chadderton Sixth Form, David Marlow, said: “We’re absolutely delighted.
