ENGLAND’S chief dental officer visited Oldham to officially open a brand new practice that will provide care for thousands of patients.
Dr Barry Cockroft opened the Marjory Lees Dental Centre in Ashton Road, Hathershaw, which is now home to four dentists — Nigel Brown, David Christensen, Nigel Hill and Amin Rashid — as well as clinical and clerical support staff.
Dr Cockcroft said: “I’m really pleased to officially open this new practice that will provide several thousand patients in Oldham with high-quality dental services. It’s always satisfying to see good partnership working between dentists, local NHS organisations and others.”
The practice, which is responsible for over 12,000 patients, is based in a new and environmentally-friendly building.
It opened in February and provides a wide range of NHS dental services with an emphasis on preventative dentistry and oral health improvement.
It also has easy access for disabled people, car-parking facilities and is convenient for public transport.
Since 2006, five new practices have opened across Oldham, with most incorporating more than one surgery.
