Family’s lucky escape
Date published: 23 August 2010
A FAMILY of five fled a raging fire in their home sparked by a candle.
They were lucky to escape the blaze at Hale Lane, Failsworth, at 3.50am today, which started in a bedroom where two teenage girls were sleeping.
A candle had been left unattended and there was no smoke alarm but the girls were woken by the fire and managed to escape the room and alert the others.
The girls were taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital, suffering smoke inhalation with one suffering burns to her hands. The other three family members were uninjured.
