WORN away . . . Val Pemberton points out the vanishing disabled bay markings in Eastway car park
Disabled bay markings now invisible
COUNCIL chiefs have been stung into action following complaints that disappearing car park markings have left disabled drivers in Shaw with nowhere to park.
Former Shaw and Crompton Parish Council chairman Val Pemberton had spotted that the markings for disabled parking bays in Eastway and Westway car parks had deteriorated badly.
Almost completely worn away, it meant regular drivers were not realising they shouldn’t be parking in the spaces, leaving nowhere for disabled drivers.
After the Chronicle raised the issue, council chiefs said the lines would be repainted.
Councillor John McCann is Oldham Council’s Cabinet member for regeneration and environment.
He said: “We take disabled parking issues very seriously and I apologise if the faded lines have caused any inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians.”
