GCSE:
IDENTICAL twins from Saddleworth School achieved double success after receiving almost identical GCSE results.
Adam and Ashley Simkins (16), who scooped an outstanding 11A* between them — and 28 GCSEs in total!
The talented twins, whose dad is a teacher at the school, both achieved A*s in statistics, chemistry and physics and were thrilled with the results.
Ashley said: “You have all of these expectations and we were so relieved when we found out our results. We’re really different in personality but we’ve done equally well.
“We’re quite competitive and I think that’s helped us do well, and we’re so pleased out efforts have paid off.”
The dedicated pair, from Dobcross, now plan to go to Greenhead Sixth-Form Collage, Huddersfield, where they will both study maths, biology and chemistry.
Saddleworth School achieved record results this year, with 88 per cent of pupils gaining five A*-C grades, 58 per cent including maths and English.
Assistant head teacher Stephanie Bateman said: “We’re extremely pleased with all our students’ achievements. It’s particularly nice for identical twins to do so tremendously. They are a real credit to themselves and their parents.”
A whole host of high-achieving teens jumped for joy as they collected their results at the Uppermill school yesterday.
Stand-out pupil Toby Butt not only gained 7 A* passes, but an A grade in AS-level music.
