Careful not to dribble! A workman repaints the tatty goalposts
WHAT a result!
Less than a week after the Chronicle highlighted the poor state of the goalposts on Clayton Playing Fields and Heyside they have now been spruced up.
Acting on complaints from the local football community that the posts had not even had a lick of paint over the close season, we went on the attack.
Oldham Council promised a swift response and, in its defence, staff from the recreational services department were out tackling the problem before you could say four-four-two.
We spotted them applying a coat of white paint at Clayton and the pristine posts are now ready for kick-off.
Of course, they should never have been erected in a tatty state in the first place, but the council’s rapid response is worthy of praise.
Fair play, lads.
