Dog-napped pooch back with owner after 4 days

A DELIGHTED dog owner has been reunited with her beloved pet pooch after it went missing last week.

Elaine Beswick (53), from Waterhead, was devastated after Jessica, her miniature Yorkshire Terrier, disappeared from her home in Watergate Milne Court on Wednesday.
A frantic search by family and friends around the district failed to find the 11-year-old pet.

A message via the social networking site Facebook said a similar dog was seen being picked up by a youth and put into a car at the near-by Shell petrol station in Huddersfield Road.

The grandmother-of-four feared she would never see her pet again.

She said: “I was absolutely devastated, I’ve had her since she was a puppy. I thought life couldn’t go on without her.”

But a call to the RSPCA on Sunday revealed a dog matching Jessica’s description had been found in Huddersfield Road and was waiting at Manchester Dogs Home.

Mrs Beswick said: “I’ve never got ready so quickly, I was down there like a shot with my daughter Kimberley.

“When I walked in and saw Jessica in her pen, I just burst into tears and said ‘I’ve found her, I’ve found her’.

“Jessica saw me and started scratching at the door trying to get to me.”

Mrs Beswick believes Jessica was trying to find her way to her daughter Kimberley’s house in Equitable Street.

She also believes the dog had been picked up by a person and then dumped when not wanted.

She said: “Someone must have taken her and then dumped her later because we had the whole community looking everywhere for her.

“I want to thank everyone in Waterhead who helped me look for Jessica and have been asking for her.

“Once she has recovered from her adventure, I’m getting her microchipped and she’s not going out of my sight.”
