Safety fears hit nursery
Date published: 03 September 2010
PLANS to build a nursery for 30 children on land opposite the Peels Arms, Den Lane, Springhead, were turned down on the grounds of road safety.
Resident Roy Turner told councillors that although the general opinion of people living in the area was that the site, a former vehicle repair garage and now a builder’s yard and office, was an eyesore and would benefit from redevelopment, a nursery was not the answer.
He said the prospect of 30 parents dropping children off and shepherding them across a busy road would do nothing for road safety.
