A TEARFUL tot is beaming once more after being reunited with his missing monkey — just in time for his second birthday.

Little Felix Leslie, who turns two on September 20, was heartbroken when he lost the cuddly toy — called Monkey — during a visit to Alexandra Park with his grandmother on August 11.

His mother Diane Leslie, of Poplar Avenue, Lydgate, appealed in the Chronicle for the safe return of his favourite toy, which he’d had since birth.

And, thanks to the story, workmen at the park who found the toy knew exactly who it belonged to.

Mrs Leslie said: “I think it was a gardener or parks worker who found Monkey at Alexandra Park. I only know that his name was Dave and he put the toy in his truck for safekeeping. He thought by the look of Monkey that someone would have lost him and would be looking for him.

“His colleague spotted the piece in the Chronicle and called us to let us know he was safe.

“Felix was so happy to have him back two weeks after he was lost, just in time for his birthday. I’m really grateful to both men.”
