A LOVE affair was celebrated at the White Hart in Lydgate when more than 100 residents gathered for a special lunch.
“Love Lydgate” — organised by Jenny Greenwood, Dorothy Clarke, Linda Howarth and Lesley Heyes — was a culmination of several months of community plannining.
Another placing in the Britain in Bloom competition was exclusively revealed during the afternoon. The ladies, and many other helpers who were rewarded with gifts of wine, chocolates and, in one special case a packet of wildflower seeds, have been engendering a community spirit in the tiny hamlet for several months.
Lydgate Band entertained guests
Jenny and several colleagues gave a rendition of a special Lydgate song, composed to honour the first ever concert by the Lydgate Larks.
The inaugural concert is in Lydgate Parish Hall on October 10.
