YOU won’t skip a fine . . . a takeaway owner dumped rubbish into this skip in Hathershaw
A COPPICE takeaway owner has been fined £350 after he fly-tipped rubbish in someone else’s skip.
Moshahid Ali, of Mirfield Avenue, was prosecuted after the council’s environmental health team received complaints about bin bags being dumped in a skip outside a house in Hathershaw. The bags were emptied and letters found inside were addressed to a takeaway in Audenshaw which is owned by Ali. The correspondence was used in evidence when the 39-year-old appeared at Oldham Magistrates’ Court.
Ali pleaded guilty to illegally depositing waste. He was fined £350 with £350 costs.
Councillor Rod Blyth, Cabinet member for community safety and public protection, said: “This case proves that Oldham Council will not tolerate illegal dumping of waste.
“Thanks to officers in our Environmental Health department we were able to track down the offender and successfully prosecute him.
"Fly-tipping leaves a blight on the borough and I would urge residents to tell us if they see anyone doing it."
