GOING the extra mile . . . Damieon Pickles (left) and colleagues
A BUNCH of bobbies swapped their uniforms for scrubs to pound the beat for charity.
PC Damieon Pickles and his colleagues dressed up as medics for a fun-filled bed push from Oldham Police station to Uppermill.
They collected £450 on the day with family and friends adding more than £700 to the total in aid of Overgate Hospice in Halifax.
The hospice cared for Damieon’s grandfather who died of lung cancer last year and the 39-year-old said: “He spent his final hours in Overgate Hospice.
“Since then I have had a couple of friends who have lost family to cancer, who were also at the hospice at some point during their treatment.”
The father-of-three has run the London and New York marathons in the past in aid of good causes.
He now plans to climb to Mount Everest base camp next year to raise money for Overgate.
