Metrolink bridge work starts
Date published: 20 September 2010
RENOVATIONS to Linney Lane bridge start today as part of the work to bring trams to Oldham and Rochdale.
Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) is converting the former heavy rail Loop Line into a new Metrolink route, which will open in Oldham Mumps during autumn 2011.
MPact-Thales — the consortium appointed to design, build and maintain the new line — will be carrying out essential work on the bridge for around eight months.
As a result, Linney Lane in Shaw will be reduced to one lane, but access will be maintained at all times via two-way temporary traffic lights.
