OLDHAM Council has again won gold for its animal welfare work.
The authority has been awarded two RSPCA Footprint Awards for the second year: a gold award for dog warden services, and a top honour for contingency planning — which covers policies, procedures and exercises for companion animals.
The council won a silver award for promoting animal welfare and was runner-up for the Innovator Award, for work carried out by the Animal Health and Welfare Team with pet shops in the borough to highlight the issue of selling animals to young people.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony in London at the end of October.
