POLICE want to interview this man following the attack
A MAN was bitten during a vicious assault by a gang as he went to defend his girlfriend.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released CCTV footage of a man (left) they want to speak to in connection with the attack in the car park of Mossley rail station.
The 25-year-old victim and his 20-year-old girlfriend, from Dukinfield, were set upon at around 10.30am on Friday, September 3, as theywaited for a train on the platform.
A gang of five men on the overbridge between the two platforms began to taunt the couple, shouting abusive language.
The couple decided to leave the station but were confronted in the car park by the gang. One of the thugs threatened the woman, and when her partner came to her defence he was attacked.
The victim was left with bite wounds to his head and upper arms as well as bruising to his arms and body. The woman was left uninjured but very shaken.
PC Mike Woodwardsaid: “This was a vicious and entirely unprovoked attack on a couple. I would urge anyone with any information about what happened comes forward.”
