THE family of an Oldham man who died after being stabbed said they are desperate to lay him to rest.
Kirk Price (38), left, from Derker but who was living in Hull, died from a single stab wound two weeks ago.
A man has been charged with his murder and his family have been told a trial lasting between 10 days and three weeks could be scheduled for next March.Kirk’s brother Noel Price (49), of Greenacres, fears they could be facing an agonising wait for his body to be returned to Oldham.
Mr Price, from Windermere Walk, said: “We just want to get him back to Oldham and lay him to rest.
“We can’t get closure until they find out what’s happened and we get Kirk back to Oldham.
“One post-mortem examination has been done and they now want to do another. There might even be a third needed during the court case so the wait might go on until then.”
Mr Price, who said he was estranged from his brother, said it was normal for the family to not hear of Kirk’s whereabouts for years.
He said the last time they met was during a quick visit by Kirk to his home four years ago.
The grandfather-of two, who will attend the outcome of the trial, said the way in which his brother died has left his family devastated. He said: “My daughter started crying when she found out, and it has knocked my mum for six. We just want Kirk home.”
