VETERAN funnyman Sir Norman Wisdom certainly knew how to draw the crowds when he paid a visit to Tommyfield Market in 2003.
The comedian, who died last night, browsed the stalls before settling down for lunch at Mr Chippy’s Cafe.
Shoppers queued around the block to meet Mr Wisdom who was only too happy to sign autographs and chat to fans.
Tributes have poured in for Sir Norman, who was a “beloved comic genius” and “true icon of the entertainment world”, according to the agency which discovered the comedian and actor in the 1950s.
The 95–year–old died peacefully at the Abbotswood Nursing Home on the Isle of Man, having suffered a series of strokes in the last six months.
