Music service’s high regard
Date published: 07 October 2010
Oldham Music Service has received an “outstanding” rating following its latest inspection.
The Federation of Music Services (FMS), the national organisation that supports and guides music in schools, recently completed a review.
Ninety-two per cent of local schools currently use the service, with almost a quarterof pupils — around 6,000 children — receiving some sort of music tuition.
All teaching was rated as good or better and it was seen as well managed with an effective policy that ensures the reputation of its youth groups and ensembles remains extremely high.
