Motorcyclist dies in crash

A motorcyclist died in a crash in Milnrow this morning.

Drivers were advised to avoid the Elizabethan Way by-pass after a Yamaha motorbike and a VW Polo car were in collision shortly after 6.40am at the junction of Harbour Lane and Elizabethan Way.

The rider, a 51-year-old man, was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Elizabethan Way was closed between the roundabout at junction 21 of the M62 and Bridge Street. Witnesses are asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 8802.
