A MOTHER is fighting for her life after being crushed by her own car.
Sarah Dockray (33) was trapped between the car door and the pillar between the car’s front and back doors outside her home in Alan Avenue, Failsworth, at 7.45am yesterday.
Neighbours say they heard a loud bang before hearing Sarah’s sons, aged three and five, start shouting “mummy, mummy”.
The garage door is badly damaged and there is debris on the driveway.
It is thought Sarah was leaning into the driver’s side of her blue Vauxhall Zafira people carrier when it began to roll down the sloped gravel driveway.
She was dragged along until the car crashed into wheelie bins in front of the garage. She was then trapped when the car door slammed shut on impact. A passer-by heard her cries for help and called an ambulance.
Sarah was placed on a spinal board before a Rapid Response Vehicle rushed her to hospital. Neighbours who ran to her aid say she was initially unconscious but started to come round when paramedics arrived.
She was taken to North Manchester General Hospital where she is in a critical condition with a suspected brain injury.
Other neighbours said the drives to homes in Alan Road are so steep that similar incidents involving cars rolling down into garage doors have happened before.
