16 get on their bikes for tribute trip
FAMILY and friends will pay tribute to a much-loved Oldhamer and raise funds for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice in the process.

Jason McLaughlin died only three weeks after finding out he had stomach cancer in August, and his relatives and mates are preparing to cycle 42 miles to Anfield on Sunday.

The 34-year-old father-of-two was a lifelong Liverpool supporter, so much so his closest friends sported the club’s strip at his funeral.

Now the 16-strong group are taking on the challenge organised by Jason’s older brother Brendan.

He said: “I’ve never done anything like this before, but I will think about my little brother the whole way.

“If that doesn’t get me through I don’t know what will.

“He spent the last five days of his life at Dr Kershaw’s and they were fantastic, they treated him like a king.

“They’re the ones who deserve footballers’ wages for the job they do.”

Jason left a wife and two children aged 11 and 13.
