A GRAMMY award-winning music star will headline the third Seven Songs Festival when it gets under way at Uppermill Civic Hall tomorrow.
World music superstar Toumani Diabate has collaborated with Icelandic singer Bjork and world-music legend Ali Farka Toure.
Toumani will be supported by the Beating Wing orchestra, made up of players from Manchester’s refugee community.
The performances are set to be one of the highlights of the week-long celebrations which boast seven events in seven nights across the borough.
Festival organiser Jeremy Davies said: “I’m really excited about this year’s festival as there is so many really interesting musicians and events in the mix.
“To have an artist of the quality and standing of Toumani Diabate coming to Saddleworth is something really special.
“It will be the festival’s must-see event.”
Tickets for Toumani Diabate and Jackie Oats are available now from the Oldham Coliseum Box Office on 0161-624 2829 or online at www.coliseum.org.uk
