Robert Hyde and Danielle Etchells and their double-decker wedding transport
THIS classic double deck bus was just the ticket to get wedding couple Robert Hyde and Danielle Etchells to the church on time.
The pair rolled up to the White Hart Inn, Lydgate, in vintage style after tying the knot on Friday, at Christ Church, Ashton.
Both Danielle (26) and Robert (25), have long family connections with transport, and tracked down a St Helen’s bus dating back to 1967 to make their special day even more special.
Robert works as a tram technician for Metrolink, his grandfather, the late Geoffrey Hyde, who lived in Springwood Way on the Oldham/Ashton border, was a founder of the National Tramway Museum in Derbyshire, and his uncle, Derek Hyde, now in his mid-80s, was general manager of Blackpool Corporation Transport until he retired.
Danielle’s father, Douglas Etchells, was a driver on the buses in Oldham.
The distinctive red and cream double decker bus transported the bride and groom, who also live in Springwood Way, to the church and reception.
It toured Mossley and Ashton, picking up family and wedding guests on the way.
