A TODDLER left fighting for his life after his pram was dragged under the wheels of a lorry is back home.

Two-year-old Thomas Wilshaw was being pushed along Huddersfield Road in Littlemoor by his mum Laura Wood (20) on August 27 when the Viridor refuse truck hit his pram.

The two-year-old was dragged along until the lorry came to a stop outside the Weavers Arms pub.

An off-duty nurse stopped to give the tot medical care before an ambulance arrived.

Thomas suffered severe head injuries and was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital. His mother escaped serious injury.

Thomas was later transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital in a critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery.

He was taken off the critical list a month later and moved to a ward.

Now, after spending more than two months in hospital, little Thomas has been allowed home to continue his recovery.

Business owners near to the accident spot have called for the council to step in and carry out more safety measures in place.

Viridor immediately set up an investigation into the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact the road policing unit on 0161-856 8473.
