POLICE have appealed for help in tracing a missing 56-year-old woman who was last seen at her home in Failsworth on Sunday.

Officers say they are very concerned for the whereabouts of Mabel Benitez who left her home in Oldham Road at around 8.30am three days ago and hasn’t been seen since.

She has never gone missing before, but is thought to have been upset over a recent change in her job. Mabel was driving a silver Peugeot 407 (KS05 AUE), which was spotted on the A55 at around 1.15pm on Sunday, heading for Wales. It is not known what she was wearing.

Det-Con Simon Hurdley of Oldham CID said: “As Mabel has never been missing before we do have real concerns for her welfare.

“This is completely out of character and her family are obviously very worried.

“If anyone has seen Mabel or heard from her since Sunday or if you have seen her car anywhere, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”

He also sent a message to the missing woman: “Mabel, if you can see this appeal, we just need to know you are safe.”

Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call Oldham CID on 0161-856 9851 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800-555 111.
