One of the award-winning gardens
THESE are the stunning gardens and allotments that scooped awards for making Oldham blooming lovely.
Oldhamers who dug deep to create them were honoured in a new residents’ contest, which is an expanded version of the gardens and allotments competitions that have been run by the council and later First Choice Homes since 1938.
It will now become an annual event.
Celebrity gardener Joe Swift, who presents long-running BBC Television show “Gardeners World”, attended a glittering award ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall to present prizes to the residents who entered the Best Private Garden competition.
