The 100,000th delivery for Bulky Bob’s
A FREE household waste and recycling service has clocked up its 100,000th customer.
Bulky Bob’s has been collecting large waste and household items from homes across Oldham since June, 2005.
Marjorie Butterworth, of Astbury Close, Springhead, arranged to have an unwanted bed picked up and to mark the milestone the service donated £100 to her chosen charity, the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA).
Residents can arrange a free collection of up to five bulky items from Bulky Bob and staff aim to reuse, recycle and refurbish at least 25 per cent.
By reusing and recycling furniture and white goods, Bulky Bob’s is helping to divert more waste from landfill sites which also benefits the environment.
Councillor Mark Alcock, cabinet member for citizens and neighbourhoods, said: “We are delighted with the success of this scheme and that we are delivering an initiative in Oldham which is an example of our commitment to increasing recycling rates, diverting waste from landfill and benefiting the community.
“In Oldham we are committed to reducing waste and this scheme is evidence of the council, Bulky Bob’s and citizens working together to achieve that aim.”
