A staggering £30,000 has been raised for the new Christie radiotherapy centre at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
The money came from a concert at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, planned by Rawtenstall Male Voice Choir member Peter Kelly.
Peter was being treated by the Christie and wanted to put something back.
He had the dream of arranging a massive concert with the Black Dyke Band and the Rossendale Ladies Choir, to raise funds for the Christie charity.
Although he died before it could take place, his brother Terence finished the task and was able to hand the bumper cheque over to Lord Keith Bradley, chairman of the charity.
