Flooding at the bottom of Waterloo Street, Oldham
OLDHAM appeared to escape the worst of the wild weather overnight as high winds battered the borough.
Fire crews were expecting a busy night but despite gusts of up to 48mph at 10.40pm yesterday, making it the windiest evening since March, 2008, Oldham appeared to have escaped relatively unscathed as it awoke this morning.
A fierce downpour at 10.30am yesterday flooded the bottom of Waterloo Street in Oldham forcing some cars to drive on the pavements to avoid the pool of water.
