A MAN has been left badly scarred after he was glassed in the face by a vicious robber in the middle of an Oldham pub.
The 55-year-old victim had bought a pint at the Old Bank, in Yorkshire Street, and had put his drink on a table before walking towards the toilets.
But after sensing someone was following him he turned around to be met by his attacker, who rammed a glass into his face and stole his rucksack before fleeing the scene.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 8.30pm on Friday, November 5.
They say the victim’s injuries could have been much worse than the deep facial cuts he suffered.
Det Con Matthew Scarratt, of Oldham CID, said: “The victim suffered some nasty cuts and will be badly scarred, however, he could have lost an eye.
“There were plenty of people in the pub at the time and I am appealing to anyone who saw this incident to contact us.”
The victim was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital where he was stitched up and later discharged.
The offender is described as white, aged 30-40, about 6ft tall and a medium build with a bald head and wearing dark clothing.
