Blown valve forces water shutdown
Date published: 16 November 2010
SHAW residents were left without water on Sunday when there was a blowout on a valve in the town centre.
It happened as United Utilities carried out planned maintenance on a pipe at the junction of Linney Lane and Milnrow Road.
Local residents and businesses, including the Shop Direct warehouse in Linney Lane, had been warned a week in advance of the work by the utility company.
But the blowout led to a wider area being affected — with homes in Milnrow Road and George Street losing their supply.
