POLICE joined forces with housing officers to tackle drug dealers and anti-social behaviour in Coldhurst.

During a week of activity, officers from the Neighbourhood Priority Team and First Choice Homes, patrolled the Coldhurst Hollow area following concerns from residents.

Officers visited problem tenants, including a house in Anchor Street where hi-fi and audio equipment was seized following numerous complaints about noise.

Six people were arrested for offences including drug dealing and abstraction of electricity. Officers also seized a car which was not insured and recovered drugs and cash.

Sgt Rob Howarth said: “This is a great example of the police, community and partner agencies working together to tackle the issues residents have told us about. It is a credit to the residents that we are able to identify and target those people who are involved in crime and anti-social behaviour.

“I would like to encourage the community to continue to talk to us and tell us their concerns. Their information is vital in helping us target criminals and those who are causing misery to our residents. Be assured that we will do all we can to solve these problems and make our neighbourhoods safer and better places to live.“

Maz Aslam, neighbourhood officer, First Choice Homes Oldham, said: “I look forward to the continued effort to make Coldhurst Hollow a safer place to live in. The feedback has been positive and residents have said that they are seeing a big difference.”
