Light up life for hospice
Date published: 19 November 2010
REMEMBER a loved one this Christmas by helping to light a special tree and singing your heart out at a carol service.
Dr Kershaw’s Hospice hosts a festive service around a giant Christmas tree each year in its Turf Lane grounds, Royton.
The tree is adorned with lights remembering the life of a loved one.
The hospice asks for a minimum £5 donation for each light to help towards its running costs.
Last year, more than 2,000 lights were lit, raising more than £10,000. Appeals manager Brian Hurst is asking supporters to make this year even better.
The service, which has a sparkling 25ft-tall Christmas tree at its centre, takes place on Sunday, December 5, at 7.30pm.
Anyone who is interested can download an order form for a light from the hospice website at www.drkershawshospice.org.uk or send a £5 cheque, payable to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, with a covering letter to the appeals office at the hospice, Turf Lane, Royton, Oldham, OL2 6EU.
