HAPPY birthday . . . Hilda Smith
SPRIGHTLY Hilda Smith enjoyed a party with family and friends to mark her 100th birthday.
The great-great-grandma lives in Shaw with her son Peter and daughter Sybil. She also has another daughter, Jean. Hilda, the oldest of five children, was born in Rotherham and moved to Oldham in her 20s.
She lived and worked at the Brown Cow in Burnley Lane, Chadderton, where she met her late husband Frank, who died in 1982. Hilda’s family now includes five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The centenarian puts her longevity down to not smoking, drinking in moderation and enjoying plenty of good grub!
