THE Women of Oldham Committee is looking for local organisations to support in 2011.
This year the group raised £8,500 from fundraising events for the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team.
Clare Weston, chairman of the Woman of Oldham Committee, said: “We have been amazed how generous the public have continued to be in times of recession and we would like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising events during 2010, which have included the annual charity luncheon and a wine tasting evening and tapas evenings.
“It has been such a pleasure and also very rewarding for us to have been able to support Oldham Mountain Rescue Team this year.
“They are a wonderful group of volunteers and we have had an insight into the amazing and challenging work they do.
“The committee was touched that team members turned up in force to the cheque presentation to say thank-you, together with their highly-trained dogs.
“We were given a round of applause by the volunteers and a spontaneous chorus of barks from the collies.”
Local groups and charities that would benefit from additional funds are invited to call Janet Larton, secretary of the Women of Oldham Committee on 0161-652 8878 to request an application form.
