Thefts from cars down
Date published: 30 November 2010
Thefts from cars have gone down by almost a quarter compared with last year.
But police say motorists still need to stay vigilant and stop leaving valuables on show — especially in the run-up to Christmas.
Greater Manchester Police said thefts from motor vehicles went down by 23 per cent in the year to October, meaning 5,953 fewer victims.
Officers will be stepping up patrols and targeting known offenders, but want motorists to help by removing all valuables from view and parking in well-lit, busy locations where possible.
