STARRING role . . . Leanne Thorpe with Andy Akinwolere and Johnny Pitts
MOVIE buff Leanne Thorpe enjoyed has her very own red carpet experience.
The Saddleworth School pupil interviewed director Nila Madhab Panda at the premiere of “I am Kalam” at the London Film Festival.
The scoop was the 11-year-old’s first role as a ambassador for the national FILMCLUB initiative.
The charity helps schools to run after-school movie clubs and Leanne is among the pupils recruited to act as reporters and representatives at top industry events.
Hundreds of members applied for the young ambassador scheme, with shortlisted applicants being invited to an audition day in London.
Successful candidates then received training from CBBC presenter Johnny Pitts and Blue Peter’s Andy Akinwolere.
Leanne will now get the opportunity to report from the red-carpet at film major premieres and festivals, and review films for the national press.
