Karen Green — McDonalds Huddersfield Road restaurant manager will take one of the company’s first foundation degrees
A FAST food restaurant manager is one of the first people in the UK to study for a new McDonald’s degree.
Karen Green, from The Rise, Springhead, manages the McDonald’s restaurant, in Hudders-field Road.
As well as serving burgers and fries, she is now studying for a McDonald’s Foundation Degree in Managing Business Operations.
The mother-of-one is one of a handful of managers to sign up for the newly-launched degree-level qualification, which offers a mixture of academic study and on the job learning.
The 36-year-old, who began her study in September, said: “Through the McDonald’s Foun-dation Degree I’ve been given a unique opportunity to continue my education and continue to earn my full salary at the same time.
“Though it’s hard work, it’s more than worth it for the extra potential it will bring to my future career.”
David Fairhurst, Chief People Officer, McDonald’s UK & Northern Europe, said: “At McDonald’s we provide a learning ladder which our people can ascend while they work.
“We’re proud of all our people, whether they’re an 18-year-old crew member and qualified apprentice or a restaurant manager like Karen studying for a Foundation Degree because they all work hard to improve their skills and qualifications.”
