Festive gift of music

A FESTIVE treat was given to music lovers in the borough during the Oldham Music Centre’s Christmas Festival yesterday.
The spectacular evening at the Queen Elizabeth Hall featured performances from a range of musical groups including Oldham Youth Orchestra, Oldham Music Centre Youth Brass Band and Oldham Youth Wind Band.
Traditional carols including “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Joy to the World”, as well as more modern festive favourites such as “Walking in the Air”, were performed by Oldham community gospel choir Soul Inspirations, Oldham Junior Choir, Oldham Youth Choir, Oldham Girl’s Choir and Oldham Boys’ Choir.
Among those who attended were the Mayor and Mayoress of Oldham, Councillor David Jones and Mrs Jean Jones, Oldham youth mayor Liam Turner and Norman Stoller CBE.
