A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME chance to be part of a crack driving team alongside the former mystery man of “Top Gear” is up for grabs.
Dr Kershaw’s Hospice has clinched a place for a supporter to join the team of The Stig — otherwise known as Ben Collins — as part of a celebrity charity karting challenge at the world’s biggest motorsport show.
So if you fancy tearing it up alongside one of the nation’s most famous racing drivers, now’s your chance.
Bidding has been thrown open for a place on the six-man team headed by Collins, who spent seven years as The Stig before he revealed his identity in his autobiography earlier this year.
The Formula Three driver also drove James Bond, Daniel Craig’s car in “Quantum of Solace.”
Bids are starting at £600, and the hospice hopes it will bring a much-needed boost to its funds in the New Year.
The celebrity race will take place on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the Autosport International Racing Event Birmingham National Exhibition Centre.
It will see 20 teams compete for the coveted first place, and the successful bidder from Dr Kershaw’s will also be in a team with professional and stunt racing driver Salvo Cachia.
Besides an opportunity to rub shoulders with television and film stars, and drivers from the racetrack world, the event also offers the chance to look at all aspects of motorsport, both professional and grass roots, from karting to Formula One.
To enter, send a sealed bid to Christine Harrop, Deputy Appeals Manager, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Turf Lane, Royton, Oldham OL2 6EU.
Remember to include your name, address, telephone number and email address.
All terms and conditions can be found on the Dr. Kershaw’s website at www.drkershawshospice.co.uk and the winning bid will be announced on Thursday, January 6.
