Around 50 people listened to trades union speakers and voiced their concerns about cuts to council services at a public meeting in Chadderton last night.
The joint trades unions, representing council employees, are stepping up their campaign against Oldham Council’s cuts and redundancies.
Tonight they will have a mass lobby of councillors attending the full council meeting at 6pm at Oldham Civic Centre.
Last night the unions involved — Unison, the Transport and General Workers’ Union, GMB, Unite, the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, National Union of Teachers, and the NAS/UWT — listened to local people describing how the cuts would affect them and their families.
