Kashif Ali — Tory choice
The Conservatives have confirmed Kashif Ali will once again be their Oldham East and Saddleworth candidate.
Mr Ali, a Manchester barrister, lives in Moorby Street, Higginshaw.
He fought the seat at the last general election, coming third but raising the Tory vote by almost 4,000. It was his first election fight.
Conservative Party chairman Baroness Warsi said the local campaign was under way and added: “Kashif Ali is an outstanding local candidate who has already been working hard for the people of Oldham East and Saddleworth.
“He will continue to fight for their best interests in this campaign.”
Mr Ali said: “Being an Oldhamer born and bred, I promise if elected to be a committed, listening and accessible local MP who will make local economic regeneration and fighting crime his two top priorities.”
This means confirmed candidates are Mrs Debbie Abrahams for Labour, Tory Kashif Ali, Liberal Democrat Elwyn Watkins, Paul Nuttall for UKIP, and Peter Allen, Green Party.
