BOBBIES will be back on the beat with body cameras tonight in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour in Failsworth and Hollinwood.
Police officers from the Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team will be out on patrol ready to film incidents of anti-social behaviour.
The waterproof body cameras, which cost £1,000 each, are clipped onto the front of a police officer’s body armour.
They are capable of filming in poor light and of storing up to four hours of footage.
Officers originally tried out their new technology outside Tesco in Ashton Road West and along Hollins Road.
Neighbourhood Inspector Muz Kernain said although no arrests were made, the cameras were well-received by members of the public.
Officers will be back out again tonight to tackle anti-social behaviour outside the supermarket, and will be using the cameras throughout the Christmas period.
